Plain words about what this site collects and what happens to it.
What this site collects
Browsing this site collects nothing about you. There are no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking cookies. The one thing stored in your browser is a note of any alert banner you dismiss, kept on your device for the browsing session and never sent to us.
The volunteer application form collects exactly what it shows: your name, email, phone, whether you live in the district (and where, if outside it), whether you are 18 or older, any certifications, and why you want to join.
What we do with it
Applications are used for one purpose: evaluating and contacting volunteer applicants. Submissions are stored by our hosting provider (Netlify) and read by the department's officers responsible for recruitment. We do not sell information, and we do not share it except as needed for that purpose or as the law requires.
The form never asks for your Social Security number. If your application moves forward, the background-check step happens in person or through the provider's secure portal.
How long we keep it
Applications are kept while they are being considered and for our records afterward. If you want yours removed, ask and we will delete it, unless a law requires keeping it.
The open records law
The Mandan Rural Fire Protection District is a political subdivision of North Dakota, so records it holds can be subject to the state's open records law. If a record containing your information were requested, we would follow that law, including any exceptions it provides.
